Step five: Teach respect for others

 

By understanding what someone else is feeling, your children will learn to build longer and deeper relationships. They will rellate to others and learn to draw parallels so that they can learn from mistakes. 

Also, no one succeeds on their own. Your children will need a support network to thrive. 

Therefore, you should explain differences in people directly but in a simple way. Help the children think about and understand their relationships with others. Teach the children to right the wrongs they have perhaps done to others. Show the children how to say 'thank you' with actions. 

Finally, teach them not to judge others. The difference between a flower and a weed is a judgement. As far as the universe is concerned, a flower isn't better, some people just happen to prefer the flower over the weed. That's all. Unattractive just doesn't exist. It's simply what people decide to believe. Teach them to be careful about their beliefs.
